A few days ago I have published a tutorial on how to create a blog in 15 minutes. I used as example BlueHost, just because have found it very easy to sign up with and set up a WordPress website.

With BlueHost you can easily install WordPress in just couple of clicks: find and click on the WordPress logo in the hosting control panel, this will take you to the MojoMarketplace (the tool that will automatically install WordPress to your BlueHost account), chose to install the software, choose the domain you want to have the system setup to, set the title and admin login info for your website and confirm the installation.

It is very easy to get started with WordPress if you choose BlueHost as a hosting provider. It is beginner friendly and straight forward.

Which Hosting Plan Should You Select?

If you are setting up WordPress for the first time, and just starting out you should choose a shared plan. I always recommend using the “plus” plan, because this allows you to host as many websites you like. The “starter” plan allows only one website. You should not go for the “business pro” plan, because does not worth the extra cost.

Instead, if you need additional features, you should take a look to BlueHost’s managed WordPress hosting plans. Here you will be able to choose from 4 plans.

If you have a busy blog that receives fewer than 100 million page-views per month, the “blogger” plan will be enough. This plan allows you to host up to 5 WordPress websites and includes 1 dedicated IP, CDN, 2GB RAM, 30GB storage and backups as well.

If you choose to buy a managed WordPress plan, a dedicated team of WordPress experts will take care of your website.

So to summarize, if you are a beginner you should select a shared plan (and easily upgrade later as your blog/website grows); if you are looking for a reliable managed hosting service, BluHost’s WordPress optimized plans will provide you with the best performance and support.

If you are not confident about choosing BlueHost for hosting your WordPress site, probably you would have more trust if you would know that WordPress.org has been recommending BlueHost as best WordPress hosting provider since 2005.

On top of this, BlueHost has over one million WordPress sites hosted on their service. The company is supporting the WordPress project by contributing to core development and sponsoring WordCamps events. They are very committed to WordPress hosting.

The company’s blog (bluehost.com/blog) is also powered by WordPress.

WordPress sites hosted with BlueHost

I have randomly picked 10 WordPress sites hosted at BlueHost and have performed several tests with Pingdom’s website speed test. I have tested the response time of each website using different server locations. Here are the results or average load time:

  • USA – 655 ms
  • EU – 1.96 s
  • AUS – 2.18 s

As you can see, in the US (where BlueHost’s servers are located) the connection is very fast, while from Europe and Australia the average loading time is about 2 seconds. These results are very promising, while a website should load under 3 seconds to provide a good user experience.

Conclusion – Is BlueHost Good for WordPress?

BlueHost is great for hosting personal as well business websites. Their variety of hosting plans allow users to find a suitable hosting package and easily upgrade (or downgrade) as website traffic grows and need more server resources. From personal experience I know that BlueHost is good for WordPress, because I have been hosting with them 2 small blogs since 2011. Never had any problems with them.

Hence, I highly recommend BlueHost for hosting any type of WordPress site.
